Plain-English info on what we collect, why, who sees it and what your rights are.

Last updated: 23 June 2026

Heads up: this is a sensible standard template for a small UK mobile car detailing business. Auto-Glo should have it reviewed by a qualified professional (solicitor or data protection advisor) before relying on it.

Who we are

Auto-Glo Detailing is a sole-trader mobile car detailing and ceramic coating business based at CV3 6JH, Coventry, serving Warwickshire and the Solihull area. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the "data controller" for the information you share with us.

What we collect

When you enquire or book a service we typically collect:

  • Your name
  • Phone number and/or email address
  • Vehicle details (make, model, colour, condition)
  • Your postcode or address so we can come to you
  • The service you're interested in and any notes you send us

We don't collect special category data (health, biometric, etc.) and we don't ask for card details — payment is taken separately at the time of booking or on the day.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote.
  • To book your service, plan the route and turn up at the right place on the right day.
  • To send booking confirmations, reminders and follow-up messages.
  • To keep simple records of work done (handy for warranty and maintenance plans).
  • To answer questions, handle complaints and improve what we do.

Lawful basis

  • Contract — when you're booking or have booked a service.
  • Legitimate interests — replying to enquiries and running our business.
  • Legal obligation — keeping basic records (e.g. for HMRC).
  • Consent — only where it applies (e.g. if you opt in to anything in future).

Who sees your data

Just Craig (the owner). We don't sell or share your data for marketing. We do use a small number of trusted suppliers to run the business, including:

  • Our website host and form provider (to receive your enquiry).
  • Email and calendar tools (to reply and book you in).
  • Accounting software (for invoices and tax records).

These suppliers only process your data on our instructions and to a similar standard.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't turn into a booking: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Customer records (booking history, invoices): up to 7 years to meet HMRC rules.
  • Ceramic coating warranty records: for the life of the coating plus 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or to restrict or object to how we use it. See our UK GDPR page for the full list and how to make a request.
